Strolling in a Japanese Garden

This is TAIKO-EN, which is a restaurant facility located in the northwest part of Osaka City. They have a wonderful Japanese garden. We strolled around the garden.

This is the entrance gate.

The garden is called “Tsukiyama-shiki Kaiyu-teien” (Japanese style stroll garden) having a pond in the center of the garden and a walkway around the pond.

There were big trees in the garden, and birds were perching on tree branches.

The building on the right is a small wedding chapel. We can easily imagine the stone marker on the left being used as a guidepost in the Edo period.

The water reservoir is made by hollowing out a stone. There were small stones and coins in the reservoir.

We found Japanese houses at some points while we were walking.

There was a place where several small stone Buddhist statues and reliefs were gathered.

Also, there were big natural garden stones and cut garden stones.

The temperature was about 25 to 26 degrees Celsius, but we didn’t sweat at all because of the low humidity. The wind, passing through the trees, was very comfortable.

This is a stone bridge over the pond, which is made of one stone.

In the pond, there were some summer flowers, skunk cabbage and water lilies, blooming.

There was a stone tower. This rectangular tower had 4 Buddhist reliefs and perhaps letters from a sutra on both sides of each Buddhist relief on the lower part.

Then, we returned to the starting point.

The garden was wonderful and we had a wonderful stroll.
